FAQs

Why do you need a headshot?

Updating your headshot provides your brand, business, or marketing strategies a vital edge. It conveys your professionalism to potential clients, investors, or potential employers. It supports and enhances the skills and experiences throughout your online presence.

Do you retouch your images?

All editing and retouching is included in the price of the session. I have nearly a decade of experience with Photoshop, so I am a master at editing. Normally I would edit out temporarily blemishes that will be gone in a few days or weeks, additional editing can be arranged. By removing too many features all together this could present a false image to the viewer. My intention is to photograph a pleasing, confident, and flattering image of yourself.

How often should I update my headshot?

For corporate environments, sessions can be scheduled whenever a new employee is hired, or those whose appearance has changed significantly. Also, updated headshots on social media regularly can improve your relations with potential employers, clients, or patients.

How long will my headshot session take?

Most single image headshot sessions can take from 20-40 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged. Most start with a brief discussion about the purpose of your images and the brand you want to project. My pricing is based loosely on time, but it’s more about the number of final images you want. I’ve done single image sessions that lasted 10 minutes, and I’ve spent a full day getting large group headshots as well.

What about hair and makeup?

Getting your hair styled or applying makeup is not necessary, but encouraged. Studio lights can wash out the color from your face, so light makeup like, eyeliner, a matte lipstick, mascara, or light foundation can help reduce the shine on your face, and emphasize your eyes. For men, consider the look you want to portray and make sure your look fits the narrative.

What should I wear?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Subtle textures can add depth and highlight your face. Solid colors are always a safe way to come dressed. Jewelry works great but remember simple is more, it can distract from your brand. So, simple is always better.
